When building a house or commercial premises, it is essential to plan the airconditioning installation well in advance.

This is because there are often installation difficulties that can be overcome during the building process, such as slab penetrations through walls and concrete slabs for ducting, piping and electrical cabling. Bulkheads may need to be accessed for the installation of ducting and outlets. Please see our products section for more information.

To install the ducts and fan coil into the ceiling void, a minimum of 700mm in height is required. It can be very difficult to install ducted reverse cycle or evaporative systems as a retro-fit in flat-rooved buildings. Please see our products section for more information.

Placement of the condenser (outdoor unit) is very important, especially from a noise point of view. The EPA has introduced stringent regulations with regard to noise and how it effects the neighbours. It is always advisable to install the outside unit of the air conditioning to the front or rear of the home, preferably at ground level. Please check our links section for more information on this issue.

The condenser needs air to be circulated throughout the unit and thus requires adequate space around the unit for this purpose. Normally a minimum of 1500mm of open space is required in front of the unit for this purpose. Please see our description of how a reverse cycle system works for further information.
